MOVIE QUOTE DAY!

I like movies. I used to love movies, but lately haven't had a chance to see many. And maybe they don't seem as good as they used to somehow? Or maybe my attention span has shortened (likely).

So today on a lighter note: What is your favorite movie and movie quote?

I'll get started:

Guy 1: I've got a question. If you know so much about girls-What are you doing at the Gas'N'Sip on a Saturday night completely alone drinking beers with no women anywhere?

Guys: Choice man, Choice!

This is my personal favorite movie quote, "I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal." It is from Dodgeball, and I try to live by those words every day. ;)

My favorite movie is Moulin Rouge, I think. Or Grease. I'm a sucker for a good musical.

I have lots of movies I love (like The Hours, Interview with a Vampire, Delores Clayborne, Coal Mountain ...) but the one that comes to mind is The Big Easy and the quote is "What ... there? Or there?" It's from a love scene in the movie - ranked as one of the best love scenes ever in a movie - and it is! I love The Big Easy because of the setting (New Orleans), the accents (cajun) and it's a pretty good story. I generally love a movie for the setting. I consider the setting (the mountains, the dark era, the ocean, the castle...) as a character as well. I think that's what I liked about Delores Clayborne - the seaside setting. And Interview With a Vampire (New Orleans and such a dark setting)I have to love the story too. See ya!

I like all of your movie choices but I have to say I've only seen bits and pieces of Say Anything--never the whole thing.

I actually had a Hitchcock class in college and it was sooooo fun.

Hello! In one of my all-time favorites, "Strangers in Good Company," seven old ladies get lost in the woods and have to live off the land for two days before help arrives. They have these great conversations while waiting and catching frogs, etc. One is all depressed and obsessed with death and being at the end of her life and all, and one of the others just looks at her and says, "I'm not going to die, I'm going fishing."

I've been out with the tummy bug. always fun! Thanks for renewing my movie interest.

YAY! Sober- hey can we go on the date together? Maybe we'll let you come to suz.

Emily- what is yours? I'm stumped.

And Spiderman is great, one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for huge comic book blockbusters, as well as science fiction.

I also agree with kellan about the setting. that is a character.

And musicals-Let's just say a demented 8 year old was sure she would be a broadway star. not naming names (flavia).

That's my fave quote. As to mivies, favorites would include Shawshank Redemption, Schindler's List, The Dresser, Little Miss Sunshine, and 12 Angry Men (the original) to name a few.

I am a movie buff to an extreme! I love quoting them so I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. I think the one quote I tend to say the most is "Do or do not. There is no try." (not even one of my favorite movies, though).

Another one of favorites, "Books are awfully decorative, don't you think?" (Auntie Mame and perfect for that super shallow person you might run into along the way!)

I'm impossibly late to the table.

I love Dead Poet's Society, Moulin Rouge, Notting Hill, Big Fish...

Movies really effect me, so i'm careful what I watch. I made myself watch Saving Private Ryan so that I could get a small glimpse into what hell must have been like and so that I could feel the gratitude in my chest for our service men and women. It took me 4 days to watch the movie.

Does the abstinence message for drug use work?

This past week I've made time to read up about social aspect awareness and education programs for young children in our public schools. My interest, of course, began with the red ribbon program , which I became alarmingly familiar with due to my daughter's negative experience . I read the Brain, Child article ( Scared Straight? Or Just Scared? Do elementary school anti-drug campaigns work? by Juliette Guilbert), which was excellent, as well as the research study that found the Boomerang effect of drug education and awareness programs that article cited (see a fact sheet that provides source citing for the University of Illinois article and also read the original Brain, Child article for more information).
